Welcome to the Cool Guitar website. This is a brand new site which contains the basics for learning to play a guitar, designed for complete beginners.

The two main types of guitar are acoustic and electric. From personal experience, electric ones are far easier to play as the acoustic ones can often be stiff, mainly because you have to pluck them harder in order to generate a high enough level of sound.

Learning to play a guitar is rather simple if you have played another instrument before, such as a keyboard.

All musical instruments have the notes A to G on them, with several notes in-between called semitones.

To play a note on a guitar you simply hold down one or more strings depending on which note you wish to play.

All of the strings are located on what is called the fretboard, this is the wooden board that spans the length of the guitar.
